In Flux: Chicago Artists and Immigration is a continuation of the 2018-2020 project Living Architecture – a large-scale, multidisciplinary exhibition that highlights the influence and impact of immigrant artists on Chicago. In Flux began as a response to the current political climate, and now during this time of COVID-19, we see an already strained immigration infrastructure further placing immigrants in precarious states.
This show originally opened at 6018North on Labor Day to honor immigrant and artistic labor – often unseen and unvalued. It then opened at the Cultural Center on Valentine's Day as a love letter to immigrants who continuously adapt, challenge and transform America, particularly in times like these.
