Long Tai Tou: End of Chinese New Year Month Celebration
Saturday, March 1 from 5-9 PM at 6018 N Kenmore Ave, Chicago IL
Please RSVP to secure a haircut slot during the event!
Join us for an event celebrating the conclusion of the Chinese New Year festivities, known as Long Tai Tou (Dragon Raises Its Head). Traditionally, people cut their hair on this day to prepare for the working year ahead. We are excited to work with two talented artists, hairdresser Heather Canuel and Anthony Spaulding, to offer free community haircut sessions!
In addition to fresh haircuts, you'll have the opportunity to explore the acclaimed exhibition Myth of the Organic City. Engage in stimulating conversations with Raina Bhagat about nuclear issues, waste management, and science fiction, sing lullabies with Tria Smith, and have your fortune told by Zachary Sun!
From 7-8 PM, Ada Cheng will present a stage reading of her new solo play, "The Trouble with My Hair." The evening will conclude with Haotian Wang performing music inspired by the folk traditions of Southwest China.
Organized in collaboration with Ji Yang.
